Analyse test data
without scripts or toolboxes.

Vizalyze opens MDF/MF4, TDMS, CAN/LIN and 31+ formats in a desktop app - FFT, IIR filters, comparison and batch reporting included, with no base licence plus toolbox stack to assemble first.

Where MATLAB fits - and where it doesn't

MATLAB is a general-purpose technical computing platform, and it handles measurement data well. If you are building algorithms, running simulations, or doing work that genuinely needs a programming environment, it remains the right tool and this page is not trying to talk you out of it.

The friction shows up on routine work. Opening a file, checking a channel, filtering a signal, decoding a CAN trace and sending someone a report are all things MATLAB can do - after you have written or adapted a script, and after the relevant toolboxes are licensed. Signal processing and vehicle-network support ship as separate paid add-ons on top of the base licence, so the cost of the routine job is rarely just the base seat.

Vizalyze covers that routine layer directly: the formats, the filters, the comparisons and the reports, in an app an engineer who does not write code can open and use. Teams commonly run both - MATLAB for the algorithm work, Vizalyze for everything that used to be a throwaway script.

MATLAB vs Vizalyze - for test data

Both get there. One of them needs a script first.

Toolbox names are MathWorks' own. MATLAB licence and toolbox pricing varies by region and licence type - check MathWorks for current figures rather than trusting a number on a competitor's page.

The toolbox work, built in

No add-on licences to assemble before you can start.

🔬

Signal processing

FFT, PSD, STFT/spectrogram, Butterworth/Chebyshev/Bessel IIR filters, smoothing, curve fitting and integration - all with live chart preview.

🚗

CAN/LIN decoding

Load a DBC, ARXML, KCD or SYM database and decode bus traffic directly, with built-in EV signal presets. Part of the Automotive & EV pack.

📂

The formats you actually get

MDF/MF4, TDMS/TDM/LVM, MAT, HDF5, NetCDF, Parquet, CAN/LIN and 31+ in total - opened directly, no import script.

🤖

AI analysis - ask Axy

Ask in plain English where a channel exceeds a limit or which runs look anomalous, instead of writing the search. Use built-in AI or your own API key.

🔀

Compare test runs

Overlay multiple files with automatic time alignment and resampling, with per-channel statistics and deltas to spot regressions.

📊

Batch reporting

Pro: generate PPTX or PDF reports across a folder of test files in one pass, and share as a secure link rather than emailing raw data.

🔒

Raw data stays local

Your measurement files are never uploaded. Everything runs on your machine; cloud sync (Pro) covers workflows and templates only.

Still want to script?

Power Mode gives you a Python editor against the loaded data - so the escape hatch is there when a job genuinely needs code.

Frequently asked questions

Can Vizalyze replace MATLAB?

For opening test files, inspecting signals, filtering, running an FFT and producing a report - yes, and without writing code. For building custom algorithms, control design, simulation or anything Simulink-shaped, no. MATLAB is a general-purpose computing environment; Vizalyze is a dedicated test-data analysis app. Plenty of teams keep both and stop using MATLAB for routine file-opening and reporting.

Do I need any MATLAB toolboxes to use Vizalyze?

No. Vizalyze is a standalone desktop application with no MATLAB dependency at all. Signal processing, CAN/LIN decoding and report generation are part of the app rather than separately licensed toolboxes.

Can Vizalyze open MATLAB .mat files?

Yes. MAT files are part of the Scientific & Simulation extension pack, alongside HDF5 (.h5/.hdf5) and NetCDF. That pack is a $99 one-time purchase usable on any tier, and it is included in Team and in the free 7-day trial.

Is Vizalyze free to use?

Every new account starts with a free 7-day Team trial - every feature and all five extension packs, no credit card. After that the free tier keeps working with no time limit on core tabular formats (CSV, Excel, delimited text, PDF tables). MDF/MF4 sits in the Automotive & EV pack, TDMS in Lab & Instruments and .mat in Scientific & Simulation - $99 one-time each, usable on any tier including free; Team includes all five. Signal processing (FFT, IIR filters), batch reporting and cloud sync require Pro.

How is this different from just writing a MATLAB script once and reusing it?

If you already have a working script and the toolbox licences behind it, that script keeps working - this is not an argument to throw it away. The difference shows up when the analysis has to be repeated by someone who does not code, run across a folder of new files, or changed while you are looking at the data. Those are the cases where a script becomes a maintenance job and a GUI does not.

Is my test data uploaded to the cloud?

No. Vizalyze is local-first: your raw measurement files are never uploaded. All processing runs on your machine. Cloud sync (Pro) only syncs your workflows and templates, never raw signal files.

Stop writing throwaway analysis scripts.
