Vizalyze is built local-first. This page explains exactly what stays on your machine, what cloud features send, and how to keep confidential data fully local.
Vizalyze is a local-first desktop application. Loading, plotting, signal processing, reporting, data lineage, live monitoring and the metadata catalog all run on your machine.
Raw data files (CSV, Excel, MDF/MF4, TDMS, HDF5, chromatography files, etc.) are read directly from your disk and are not uploaded as part of normal analysis. Raw data stays local unless you explicitly choose a cloud or shared workflow.
You can use the app without signing in. Local-only use does not require a network connection.
Cloud sync is opt-in and only available when you sign in on a Pro, Lifetime or Team plan. It syncs workflows, sessions, import/report templates, channel configurations, and content you explicitly select for sync.
Cloud sync encrypts workflows, sessions, templates and selected sync content before upload. Raw data files are not part of cloud sync.
Shared report links upload only the rendered report content you choose to share, not your source data files.
AI requests only send the context shown in the prompt/preview - typically column names, summary statistics and the data excerpts you are asking about - to the AI provider you configured.
Bring-your-own-key (BYOK): requests go directly to your chosen provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, …) under your own account and their data terms.
Local AI (e.g. Ollama): requests stay on your machine or your local network. Nothing is sent to Vizalyze or external providers.
Vizalyze Cloud AI: requests are routed through Vizalyze infrastructure to a cloud model and require sign-in.
No AI: leave AI unconfigured and no analysis content is ever sent anywhere. Use local-only mode or local AI when working with confidential data.
When you sign in, we process account metadata needed to operate licensing and downloads: your email, plan/tier, enabled extension packs, machine activation identifiers, and authenticated download requests.
This metadata is used for license verification, download authorization and abuse prevention. It does not include your measurement data.
Work signed-out or in local-only mode: nothing requires a network connection.
If you use AI, prefer a local model or your own API key, and review the prompt preview before sending.
Cloud sync and report sharing are always explicit actions - nothing is uploaded in the background without you choosing a cloud workflow.
